Sam Lander
Automotive Engineer
Sam Lander is an independent Porsche specialist run by Sam Lander located
in Malton, North Yorkshire. We carry out repairs and services to all modern and classic Porsche models.
Sam has a keen eye for detail and produces some of the best engine restorations out there. He understands the importance of these early cars and appreciates what they stand for and how much they mean to their owners. They are expensive cars and need the best people to look after them.
In Spring 1998 I was digging up a friend’s garden and a guy came over and offered me a Saturday job in a local garage and I jumped at the chance
I started working at Derek Nichols also known as Lowfield garage, doing Saturdays.
Wow, my first job and my first actual pay packet. (if you can call it that? ha ha!!)
In Summer of 1999 I did my GCSES (relentlessly), I left school and started full time at Derek Nicholls. We September came around I started day release at Yorkshire Coast College doing a 3-year course in which I won apprentice of the year, 3 years running for the East Coast and Humberside region.
During my time at Derek Nicholls the main aim was Formula 1, I sent letters to several British based teams and had generally good feedback from 4 of the teams. One in particular, which I wrote to a second time. I was then offered a job at the local independent Porsche specialist. Not knowing where this would go I started working at Specialist Cars of Malton in May 2001.
I spend the next 16 years working and learning from some very experienced guys that had specialised in Porsche from the 70s.During my time in my previous employment I spent some time in Hong Kong carrying out repairs to client cars and also cars that had been sold out there.
In March 2017 I moved onto pastures new where I was offered an opportunity to share a work place and build up my own clientele and start my own business. The business has grown and evolved and I am proud to say that in March 2020 I took on my own new larger premises.
